There are times I wish to say
Cross that bridge when you come to it
and other times I just wade
into rippling waves not fearing the drop off
but then this real thing happens and it could be
devastating if I ignore it
or push down its seriousness
All these burdens
being a grown up
old woman even
You would think by now life's choices
would be simple and divine
that I could wear purple when ever I please
but life is not a haiku or a short story
that you can direct...edit..or delete
Ah, if only this elephant would sprout wings
and fly
resonating poem- excellent!
ReplyDeleteyou too? :)
ReplyDeleteYou are right sister, if only life can be directed, edited or deleted. Great poem again... Love it!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week ahead!

Lovely! but don't forget to wear the purple...just because you can!
ReplyDeleteGreat words. Thankyou.
very cool suz...some good wisdom in here...and i resonate as well...we are a product of our choices...and they can not be made lightly...but we do the best we can...
ReplyDeleteLove this Suz, well done.
ReplyDeleteIt is good to be reminded of how foolish we can look when we gaze outward at stars. We look foolish because the vision others have of us is always the same at the moments we stare into the mystic: they see our backsides. :D
ReplyDeleteLove the wisdom about crossing the bridge...
ReplyDeleteIf only! Right, Suz.

I feel just the same way Suz! This is a glorious piece of prose....i love it!!!!
ReplyDeleteI like where you write:
ReplyDelete~life is not a haiku or a short story~
I've often noticed that there I times I try to put my experience into haiku or short story. But you are correct, life is not a haiku or short story.
Words of wisdom, beautifully said.
ReplyDeleteWonderful, from the heart and rings so true. Enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteWe could just do what we want, change things as we please. Sadly there are choices!

Oh, if only!!
ReplyDeletechoices - they make life both interesting and difficult
ReplyDeleteVery interesting take on the prompt!! Only if we could make those choices and they were simple and divine!! sigh...
ReplyDeleteI feel all your burdens..if pigs can fly, why not elephants? Well done!!
ReplyDeleteDear Suz: The truth be known, the elephant does fly! And so do your dreams of wearing purple etc etc! Great news!
ReplyDeleteLove this - especially the last line. But sometimes it only LOOKS like an elephant. It's really a puff of wind that you can move at will :)
ReplyDeleteI can imagine you wear purple quite well!!!
ReplyDeletelove your wit.
ReplyDeleteamazing magpie.
The writing is perfect, the picture however may give me nightmares!
ReplyDeletegreat writing Suz.
ReplyDeleteNice bit of wishful thinking. :)
ReplyDeleteyou would think life's choices would be simple and divine, wouldn't you? if wishes were elephants ...
