This is my youngest, Sarah
I thought I was old when I had her.....32
ha! How things have changed
She is coming over today
she is on teacher break
She is coming over and we are going to go to my mother's
Sarah has been taking a sewing class
and my mom has lots of fabric
She (my mom) will be in sewing heaven today
sharing her fabric with the only female in the family that loves thread and yarn
like she does......I was more like my dad
Below is a picture of my mom taken about 2 years ago
at a woman's group that we belonged to
Simple Abundance.....we studied Sarah Ban Breathnach's book
for 10 years....can you believe that
Really it was a wonderful group of mixed ages
connecting with a page of the book's daily entries
It was shocking sometimes to hear what my mother had to say
I didn't know that...
My mom and I didn't always see eye to eye
I wasn't the easiest teenager
but I had spirit and spunk
something foreign to my mother who was raised in the
Lutheran church of the German kind (and I'm glad she was..(but that is another topic)
But no one could be happier or prouder to have a mother like her
than me....
.within some internal confines she had a rebel streak too
Sarah is steady and strong
organized and deliberate
and she has the best intuition
and she is kind and compassionate and loving
We should have a wonderful day today
Three females in the big wide world
connected
How wonderful for you all Suz and does your daughter looks like you?
ReplyDeleteHi John, no Sarah does not look like me...she looks like the Irish/Finnish side of the family
Deletebut she has my way :)
and here, Audrey would say "yep, good job, Mom!"
ReplyDeleteYes, I loved Simple Abundance. My books are right on a handy shelf looking at me. I always still want to begin them all over again. Love the pic of your Mom.

DeleteI love how you tell so much in such a small space. Sarah is one of my favorite girl names. Timeless. I am so happy for you to have this day, this time with your mom and your baby- your mom happy to be sharing what she loves. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun and inspiring day this must have been...sweetness x's 3
ReplyDeleteBlessYourHearts
That sounds like a wonderful time!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a wonderful day with 3 generations of great women! Your daughter looks pretty and I'm sure as nice as you...And you have your Mom to pal around with too! You are a fortunate woman. I love simple abundance too. Still read it and it inspires me year after year. So, you don't like to sew? I wanted to be as good as a sewer as my Mom, but am not. Keep breaking needles on her old singer machine! You can watch them sew and drink some tea. I guess this is late so I hope you had a lovely time!!!!!
