Cleaning out a dresser drawer, I came across this picture
of me and Amelia
The daughter who has been through so much this year
Soon, in a few weeks, it will be her 39th birthday
Where did those years go?
How did they slip away so quickly?
Back then I thought I could protect her from everything
or die trying
I still would like to spare her from life's unfairness
life's lessons
life's heartaches....she's my little girl
But, she is doing fine...so I guess those lessons
are worth learning
must be learned
As I learned mine

Love, the glue that holds it all together
binds us still

lesson today: don't start the week cleaning out drawers

  1. Hello Suz:
What a lovely picture of mother and daughter. As time goes on we are all left, or so we believe, wondering where the years have gone. For this reason it is so important to value every hour of each day.

  2. And yet, by cleaning out drawers we find our past, and can appreciate all we have gone through.
This is a precious moment of you and your Amelia!

  3. I have a picture, almost identical of me and my Liz.
She will turn 40 (!) in February.
Yes, time does fly by so fast.

She's adorable, your girl. Photo's like that are like tiny little miracles, taking you back there for just a moment. Even though they are hard sometimes, I think they make life sweeter.

  4. Being our childrens saviors, such a hard one to learn.
No cleaning out drawers? Am I safe with just the pantry?

  6. What a great "gift" to find in your drawer. When we measure the years by the growth of children, we realize that time passes so very quickly.

  8. Oh, Suz. This is beautiful. When you get a moment go to this Youtube song...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPtL3EoGfjQ&feature=related. It's called *If I Could* and it was originally done by Barbra Streisand, but Celine does a wonderful rendition of the song.
I think that we all cry our children's tears. It's what a parents does. It never ends.

    1. Oh Farmlady, now you know I cried my heart out...dripping tears all over my keyboard
and my nose...no tissues in sight
but I loved every minute of it
thank you, my dear blogger friend
So wonderful to know that I am not alone having these feelings about my children, especially my daughter, Amelia....but truly all of them
      If I only could
But I can't cry your tears, but I would if I could
      Such a beautiful song

  12. Suz, I love this. Beautiful. Amelia, another one of my most favorite names. So many similarities. I have photos like this, we mothers are a fierce and tender bunch, aren't we? I am so glad your little girl is doing well.
