wednesday poem at http://oneshotpoetry.blogspot.com/
I turned in bed last night
aware of my bodily aches
that would not relent as I lay
still in the dark, alone in that
black space of quiet night hours
that the weary know,when
cat paws tiptoed across the bed
with stealth percision over crumpled bedding
and stopped beside my body
and began to knead in my darkness
and I moved ,and she began to purr
with furious delight.
Here is where she wanted to be.
I lifted my hand and petted her
moving my hand across her soft fur
to the tip of her tail
answering back.
Suz, I'm so sorry, I didn't know you were in a car accident until today. I hope you are recovering and feeling okay. How scary.
ReplyDeleteLove this poem. The cat paws tiptoeing across the bed is so vivid.
well put.
ReplyDeleteLittle kitty knew what you needed!
ReplyDeleteI know well the quiet of the night when thoughts can grow ...and the comfort of a cat.
ReplyDeleteThere's comforting for you in a lonely black night.
ReplyDeleteVery, very lovely! (Take two kittens and call me in the morning.)
ReplyDeleteHad a similar night, sans the cat. Just aches. lol Seriously though— clear lines, Suz. Can picture the movement of the cat throughout your poem.
ReplyDeletea warm quilt always waits...comforts you...
ReplyDeletehaha. lovely...our ca is much the same...thanks or sharing your spot with her...nice one shot.
ReplyDeletedid i read correct? you were in a car accident? hope all are well....
our animal friends know just what we need.
ReplyDeleteheal well!
Happy you survived. Sad about your father.
ReplyDeleteEvery day, I have the same experience with cat Bert (sounds like 'Catbert'?--grin!) and yesss, animals DO seem to have that sense of when WE need them, as well as the other way around.
Thanks for being alive and writing a good One-Shot
What can be better than curling up with a kitty to comfort us.
