Susan, at http://www.stonyriver.ie/
hosts a weekly writing prompt
Using the below photo
write something using only 140 character or less
Quite a challenge....why not try it yourself?
Family ruins, not the kind you cast
but the kind you're given
Cast before you were born
Like it or not,the foundation
of your own house
-138-
characters
Ooh, I really like this. Your ancestry, and especially your parents, are the foundation for your future. Good one, Suz!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes! A great one indeed, Suz! Really like your thoughts. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
This was good Suz, Sometimes we do need to look at our past to see our future.
ReplyDeleteOk, Suz. I tried it. But counting your characters I got much less than 138. What am I missing?? I had a hell of a time getting the photo and words to line up on my blog. And forget about the Micro/Mon logo....Jeez I couldn't get anything to line up properly....
ReplyDeleteAnyway, hope I did the writing part right. Some direction will be appreciated!
Thanks...Rick
Thought provoking - there are ruins and then their are those that are passed down over time
ReplyDeletenice my dear
you can hear the echos
Rock-solid "take," Suz! I'm impressed!
ReplyDeleteSparkleFarkle~~~~~*
(Whoa! My Word Verification word is "extesse"!)
Looks like this family has a few skeletons hidden! My 140 is here
ReplyDeleteAnother one of your stories that makes me stop and think, especially as I'm having problems with a family member at the moment.
ReplyDeleteAs always, a brilliant microfiction.
Oh I like this. You cram so much into just 138 characters. It could be the plot of a book - a whole series of books : there is so much truth in there.
ReplyDeleteThat is very clever - and so true! Well done.
ReplyDeleteTry as you might, you can't fight your genes! Great take!
ReplyDeleteTruer words were never spoken..G
ReplyDeleteI played...
Family ruins or family ruined? Interesting twist. I love even the shape it took written out.
ReplyDeleteI liked that alot. And I tried it myself. All in fun!
ReplyDeleteneat,
ReplyDeleteI am back on this again!

Lots of food for thought there -- so true, whether it leaves us joyful or depressed!
ReplyDeleteYours are always wonderful Suz; thanks!
Guess lots of families are on shaky ground, huh? Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteooh, gorgeous shot and your words wrapped around it like grandmas old quilt on a winters night...truly fitting! such a beautiful microfiction, suz :)
ReplyDeleteYour words just envelope me, leaving me all fuzzy and warm inside...
ReplyDeleteOh Suz, your writing is so moving and beautiful. When is your book coming out?
ReplyDeleteIf I finish it..what will I do then
ReplyDeleteThree words: "The Secret Garden."
