I read the book Simple Abundance, by Sarah Ban Breathnach
about 20 times
each time drawing something different out of it
But the one thing that stayed constant was her
call to make an Illustrated Discovery Journal
a sort of scrapbook journal where "you created
a visual autobiography of your authentic self
by crafting collages that reflected
your long-forgotten passions and preferences"
I have several of these, and each one reveals
progress and change
The photo above, from a long forgotten ad in a magazine, has become a visual mantra to me:
warrior woman
Does it matter that I started too late (55) to look like a buff 25 yr old?

does it matter that I fell off of the wagon of practice many times?
does it matter that it is getting harder to lift those weights?
I am a warrior
for myself...the only warrior that counts

and yes, I have had to begin again
even in the last few weeks
but the woman in the photo inspires me
a warrior woman

2 more pounds banished
blood pressure (with new meds) down
LDL.....well, let's not throw a wet blanket on my party
but I'm working on lowering it

cheers on this beautiful day of Autumn

  1. Now this is what we all love to hear! My 2-mile power walks are helping with BP (I'm on medication too.) .. I removed myself from the statin my physician prescribed - after reading all of the negatives regarding statins and older women. Of course .. I am really old at 70!!

  2. You go Suz!! You are an inspiration!! I really hope that you are successful in your quest---don't give up!! You CAN do it!!! I know what a difference the appearance of the outside package can make on how we feel about ourselves. Maybe there are people who don't feel this way---they are lucky!---but I DO! Keep up the good work!!!

  3. Sounds like you are doing great! I am so proud of your!

  4. You are so strong, even stronger than the woman in the picture, though I think the image is just perfect for you.

Caring for yourself is sometimes the hardest thing to do, maybe because we don't always know how to do it. You are learning that, doing that. Caring for yourself. The goodness will follow.

Strength and peace to you in this journey.

  5. congrats to you warrior woman.
i did a pilates class this morning.
feels so good and now ready for the day.
    hugs, cory/dogwood

  10. WELL DONE YOU!! Each ounce is a success and 2 lbs is a lot! We all know that they say it doesn't matter what the outside looks like, it is what is inside that counts and yes, that is true but oh how good it feels to look great on the outside too! Definitely you are on the right road towards good health sounds as though you are doing so many things right. Just keep it up!

  11. go for it sister! i love that, not a quitter!
