very cool haiku...esp like the second line which invokes where he truly lives...
I must agree with Brian!JJRod'z
Oh Suz! This is just excellent... A gut-punch demand for introspection! LOVE this poem! I think this is the best of the week!
Yes, in the prompt the walls are stained. But as you point out, so all too often is the soul...
There is so much magic in this one, I'm swooning!!
you are amazing.
interesting comparison of the stained walls and soul
this is vry good, Suz. A serious reaction to the prompt.
This is truly soulful...I really like it very much!
The soot is reflected on his shirt too! Thanks-
Loved this... sooty walls of the soul. Wonderful write.
You are so GOOD at this!
great haiku! Love the scary sense of being on the inside of the soul. Did not know of this Andrew Wyeth painting. It looks like his son... or some relative. Revenants aren't usually that good looking. Love the obscure face.
A really superb take on the prompt. I would never have thought Haiku. Congratulations, it works fine.
simply said but profoundly read.
Short and sweet. Delivered very well, haiku styled!Hank
Once again, perfect words and a perfect image!
Terrific - lots of depth...
I love those sooty walls...patina!
Thank you for your kind comment about my poem. Your haiku is wonderfully deep and dark, complementing the image well. It's the second one I am reading today that speaks of "exorcism". We do tend to do that with our past relationships, don't we?
I think he's sooty through and through! I like your haiku for this prompt. My take had him pretty "sooty" too!
The most captivating haiku I have read in a long time....love this Suz! :-)
Exorcism by paint .. like the concept!
Dark, deep and deliciously scary.
