    Love those old narrow back simple pine stairs. Such stories they could tell.

  2. when we lived just outside of chicago, our house had a back staircase. i LOVED it. and when all four kids and their friends played hide and seek, the game would go on and on...there was always an alternative stairway to avoid the seeker!

    i often wondered about the folks who used those stairs years ago...

  3. I have me some of those Butler stairs - though I must admit I never thought to call them that. We rebuilt ours a couple of summers ago, after J and I both fell down them...not at the same time, luckily. Yours have a beautiful patina to them!
