This was our first snow. Not much. This week they are predicting someone in the surrounding Chicago area may get about 12 inches..probably by my daughter's. The grocery store was mobbed with people with the same mindset as mine.....more milk, bread, eggs and catfood, etc. You never know. I am not welcoming of this new season, although I am aware it has its beauty too. And I will be looking for it. I just hate driving in a lot of snow!
I liked the footprints in the one photo...a rabbit's and the UPS man's. I love footprints in the snow. Now that's something to look forward too!
And I guess the pumpkin family missed the bus.
hmmm.....that looks like something I might like to try and paint...snow on the pumpkins..I never painted snow....do you paint snow....APRIL????? BEV???UTA????
Nice photos of the snowy pumpkins! We haven't had any snow yet down in southern IL, but the temperature has sure dropped a lot. I miss those unseasonably warm days we had in November.
ReplyDeleteHello to down state...If it misses us it'll get you ...oh my...But it is always warmer down by you..at least when my children were at Champaign it was...Looking at my garden photos from summer and even fall...yes, I miss it all..I was hoping this warm fall would last till spring
ReplyDeleteThe first snow is so exciting. Especially when there's enough to leave a little sugar frosting on everything.
ReplyDeleteAs I don't live with snow I've never thought to paint it and wouldn't know how to start. I haven't seen snow for 36 years. We do have snow in Australia but not where I live. I think I'm glad. We do however have mighty hot summers :) Great pics brr.
ReplyDeleteHey Suz,
ReplyDeleteIf you want to email me you can do so through the contact page on my website. There's a link to my website on my blog in the side column under my photo.
Oh goodie...Uta
ReplyDeletenow if I can only figure it out
Hm, painting snow! A challenge of course. With watercolor I guess you can leave the white of the paper for the white powder. Though I've been told snow has shades of blues, purples, pinks in it. Maybe I'll try a snow painting of some sort as a challenge to me! Gorgeous photos, you have quite the eye! CA grandkids should love this stuff when they visit!
ReplyDeletethanks Bev, that was my thought about painting snow...you don't paint it...you capture the various values around it....oh I'm sunk
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you paint my pumpkins?
Such sweet photos. I love the one with the snow on the three pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this photo of the snow-dusted pumpkin family who "missed the bus"! It captures that "change of seasons" moment.
ReplyDeletethanks
ReplyDeleteThose pumpkins are amazing. Like the energizer bunny, they keep going and going! Never rotting! When is that dang bus gonna come and get them? Maybe you could dress them up like they do those geese in various outfits.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is really nice Suz. Your words and images always warm my soul!
Love your photos! And reminds me, yes I have painted snow a long time ago. Will have to look for them.
ReplyDeleteI want snow! Pretty unlikely! But I'm shivery vicariously with yours!
ReplyDeleteYes Bev that's a good idea...look for them wearing coats soon....
ReplyDeleteApril...I wanted to know how you paint snow..
Jenny You would have shivered tonight..it was 1 degree heading to my daugheter's house! But it was sunny today...I love sunny winter days!
