It is a beautiful summer day in July, the temperature is around 74 and there are blue skies, white clouds and the sun is shining. The landscapers came early this morning and cut the grass..oh the sweet smell of freshly cut grass.
Today is the wake for dear Bill,a friend and companion of my mother, who lost her husband at age 54...way too young. They never got to take that trip to Hawaii. But when she met Bill some 12 years ago he pushed her in gentle ways to widen her horizons..take trips...enjoy life. And she did. He was good for her and she was good for him. This past year, his battling prostrate cancer, has been long and dreary. But it was a time of letting ago again. My dad died in his sleep...no goodbyes.
So today I put aside me, and my ailments,my concerns,my wantings, and love my mother by being with her.
I'm certain she wishes it were a blustery, dreary, stormy, day.
But me, I'm glad God showed up in sunlight.
Sending you and your mother loving thoughts and hugs, Suz. It's never easy to lose a loved one, but I'm glad they had as much time together as they did.
