One Shot Wednesday Poem

Thought I'd try my hand at writing a poem....it's been a long time..but I dusted off my line breaks
and joined http://oneshotpoetry.blogspot.com for their weekly challenge to put one on the board...yes!

 Dark Brilliance

She devours
Anne Sexton
tries to crawl
inside the page
She's aware of
the darkness
within

But she's drawn
by the tune
Tries to whistle
as she passes
whistle
as she passes
the grave-yard

  1. Like all good poetry, yours invites the reader to relate it to his/her own specifics. Neat!
I always think of Anne Sexton as the poet who said "The beautiful feeling after writing a poem is on the whole better even than after sex, and that's saying a lot."
Well, I agree but note she wrote a lot of poems to appreciate the 'after poem' feeling! One can only guess at the other!

  3. thanks for linking up with oneshot...i fixed your link...love the repitition in the closing stanza...it almost makes one feel the trepidation in passing that graveyard...like a stuttter to relieve some of the tension...much like whistling to break the silence...

  4. Lyrical - in a musical sense. Don't leave it so long before you have another try.

  5. I like this a lot! It reminds me of reading The Bell Jar - I felt such a kinship with Sylvia Plath that it was scary. And I'm not a depressive personality. She just pulled me in & made me think her world was the real one.
