This one is a Junco. An old german woman from my old church first introduced these birds to me when I was 26. She called them Junkies. So you can imagine how embarrassed I was when I identified another one like him to my neighbor.
I can still her laughing...
You have a very nice blog, and your images are wonderful. I'm glad I found you through Gardening Gone Wild.
ReplyDeleteSame here! I just love your name!
ReplyDeleteI began gardening for the birds..would you believe?
We have been feeding the birds for years and love it! I didn't anticipate their funny personalitys when we started but indeed they have them.
ReplyDeleteThe juncos are shy, and stay close to the ground.
The chickadees are more daring and flit around.
The jays fight and the magpies are bullies!
Red, do you have crows in your yard?
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love feeding birds and then watching them. We have out feeders and suet holder hanging on branches that we see outside our kitchen window. I can watch them for hours! So can our kitty Rocky. That is so funny calling Junco birds Junkies!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
One of my favorites.
